Shawn Chen

Shawn Chen is a Chemistry teacher teaching 10-12th grade students at Highland Park High School in Topeka, Kansas. He is working with CJ Ponge in the Shiflett Research Group focusing on water safety: The absorption of PFAS (the "forever chemical") in water using different absorbing chemicals. As part of the RET Program, he is most excited about connecting engineering concepts in research/lab with real life (in the classroom and home of students).

Shawn received his Bachelor's degree from Jiangxi Agricultural University, China in 1988; his Master's degree in 1991 and Ph. D. in 1997 from Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Science (Now called: The University of Chinese Academy of Science).
